The MIB2 gen 1 head unit, coupled with an updated canbus gateway work as advertised and I now have Apple CarPlay in my 2012 GTI. I found an arm rest insert from another company to replace the MDI interface in the arm rest and was able to mount the USB/Aux ports in it. It all works well and I still have all the same functions I had with my previous RNS 315 unit.

Super easy and awesome upgrade! My 2014 GTI Wolfsburg feels like a new car! I would highly recommend this for anyone that wants Android auto or Carplay in their older VW.

Super easy and awesome upgrade! My 2014 GTI Wolfsburg feels like a new car! I would highly recommend this for anyone that wants Android auto or Carplay in their older VW.
