Pilot Custom 74 Fountain Pen - Forest Green

A wonderful pen. I’ve spent 20+ years working on my craft, but always with entry level pens. I’m grateful for the time and effort I put in, I didn’t know what I was missing. Now that I have this pen, I can’t go back. I’m not sure functionally if a pen can improve on the writing experience. I’m less concerned with the look of the pen, and more the weight, the function, the use across paper types, the feel of resistance. Now, I’m searching for the best inks… but I couldn’t be happier with the pen. I use it daily.

Good all-around pen

So glad I decided to buy this pen in a medium nib. I previously bought the fine nib which didn’t suit my fairly bold handwriting. Not to say either nib size is better than the other, but they are more in line with most Japanese brands. The writing is smooth in either nib, and I especially like the push-button filling system. The green body is a nice subtle color - stylish and not flashy.

This pen is a predictably smooth writer. No skipping and lays down the ink constantly well. Light in weight Although this my first gold nib pen it’s exactly what I expected from it. The pen is attractive, especially opened and showing its rhodium-plated 14k gold nib. A true and reasonably priced winner.
