Pathetic? Too harsh?

$25 product. $20 shipping. Then a bill from UPS for going from Canada to California that we were told nothing about. Then we attempt a return / refund because it didn't work with our bike .. sorry, we don't do that .. because .. we don't want to. Then I find a similar product from WalMart for $8 with free shipping. Yeah, right, EIGHT DOLLARS. We paid $25 + $20 + $14 =$59 for an $8 product. I don't think "pathetic" is too harsh.
