Great starter piece for "newbies"

As someone who is just getting into the cutting of stones and whatnot, this was incredibly easy to get the hang of. I was actually a little shocked at how compact it is. Which isn't a bad thing as I am limited in my workspace. I don't have any issues with performance and cleanup is a breeze. I have two observations through my use that aren't drastic, just things that could be better. One being the splash guard is a little too close, preventing some stones from fitting in front of the blade. It is removable, and the blade itself really doesn't kick much water around. But if the slot for the guard were in the body of the machine (the white molded lip) I don't think it would be as much of a hindrance. Secondly would be my left hand clearance. I do have bigger hands, but when I'm turning a stone while it cuts or holding a particularly stubborn cut I find myself wishing I could rest my left hand flat like my right does. Again, those aren't really anything that takes away from It's performance. Maybe something to consider for a V2?

I’m happy to have my own little lap saw so I don’t have to drive 20 miles to use one. The plastic splash guard arm on the deck was not attached when the saw arrived. I contacted hitech and left a message. The call back apparently went to spam call. I used an epoxy to glue it on rather than wait for solution and to be able to begin work with the saw which worked as expected.

Good customer service. First order received and saw was not working. They expedited a replacement in 2 days and the replacement saw works exceptionally. Fantastic lapidary product, it's great working with a US company with exceptional people and products.
