Versatile Mount

I just love this mount and have been using it just about every clear night. Using the SynScan app on my phone and iPad, it’s easy to align and control by wifi. The primary encoder is accurate enough to place targets in high power eyepieces; the secondary (“Freedom Find”) encoder not so much (but I rarely enable it). One complaint I have is the azimuth/RA axis was too stiff when I got the mount and eventually the gears began vibrating while tracking at high altitudes, making it difficult to observe planets because the mount was vibrating so much at high magnification. I ended up disassembling the mount, applying grease to the bearings, ring and worm gears (taking care not to contaminate the friction surface of the clutch) and loosening the main nut enough to allow the azimuth to rotate freely with the clutch disengaged, but tight enough to immobilize it with the clutch engaged. This completely cured tightness and vibration. I also added a counter weight bar which allows this mount to hold more weight than the recommended payload weight limit of 5 kg (11 lbs.). Finally I am very satisfied with Telescopes Canada for sending me this mount quickly and inexpensively, and for honouring their price match policy after I purchased it.

Nice portable mount works great in my living room. Did have to figure out which way to insert the scope 🤔 so was interesting at first but it works great 👍

Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone with a scope weighing less than 10 lb., Make sure you use it, research how it works because practice / knowledge makes perfect !
