Hella-Bomb™ 966: 8 ft / Extra Heavy Power / Fast Action

Have not fished with yet.

My brother has a 7'9" from back in the day when Cajun was here in Florida. Awesome rod. So I decided to give these two a go but I have not fished them yet but when I received them there were a few crooked guides that needed adjusting and the top of the foam on the 8 footer is loose but that's no big deal and the 7'9" does not have the American flag on the blank which once again isn't a huge deal but it is a nice touch. Just worry about quality control here.

Hella Bomb performs!!!

I've had my first HellaBomb for a few years now and absolutely love this rod! 8' is perfect both in the kayak or boat, extra heavy and fast action make this my favorite rod for Pelagics, Cobia, Goliaths, Tripletail, Snook, monster Goldfish,...you name it. My first one came with the small guides which make it amazingly accurate to cast, a real advantage when peeling Cobia off rays. Jess was super helpful with ordering my second HB with slightly larger guides allowing for a heavier leader/topshot with enough clearance for an FG to pass through the guides - lots of backbone to get fish turned and out of wrecks, holes and from under ledges; slow trolling or free-lining live baits. Despite it being stout, the fast action is super fun and makes the Hella Bomb(s) my absolute favorite rod. Updated with a hook keeper on the current Hella Bomb, they're my go to weapons of choice. If you're an addict like me, do yourself a favor, get a HellaBomb and hang on to tour shorts 🎣
