Great fitting but not perfect

I initially ordered the small-short and while the length was appropriate, the waist/hips were a bit tight. It's worth noting that I workout and so maybe I'm more endowed in the legs and glutes than the average 5'5 male but I had to go up to medium-short. Length is good but the waist is a bit loose now. I tie the drawstring as tightly as I can but it's not perfect and I don't want to overstretch or tear it. Overall I'm happy but I'm hoping for a little shrinkage after washing. Guess I'm stuck between a small and a medium.
