Beautiful pattern - I need to adjust it to fit me

As the title says, this pattern is beautifully designed and well written. The instructions are clear and the images included are really helpful. It would be easily five stars, except that I’m having trouble getting it to fit without gaping at the front. I’ve made two toiles, hopefully the third time is the charm and I can bit into the gingham I bought to make this with!
