Grey Baranil Signature Strap

The grey baranil signature strap is one of the three straps in Delugs’ baranil catalogue that comes with contrast stitching and this paired on my silver cased hand wound 34mm Timex Marlin reads beautifully — the tonal harmony is sophisticated and the contrast stitching adds definition without disrupting the cool monochromatic composition. The strap is well constructed and has the correct thickness that tapers to the tail thus making it easy to buckle. The classic buckle that compliments the strap is nothing short of excellent. Delugs has clearly made a deliberate design choice with their buckle — the slimmer, more architectural profile sits closer to contemporary accessory design than traditional watchmaking convention. On a vintage-inspired piece like the Marlin, that tension is exactly what makes it interesting. The watch is pulling from the 1960s, the strap leather has character, but the buckle introduces a quietly modern punctuation mark. It creates a layered aesthetic rather than a costume.

Took a chance and bought this during the Black Friday promo as I didn’t have the watch with me when I happened to stop by the boutique. Consulted with Shawn prior and coincidentally he also helped me fit it on my GS White Birch at the boutique subsequently. Absolutely loved the look (and the comfort as compared to the original bracelet). My 3rd strap from Delugs and they were all lovely.
