Very heavy and well built base. This is not built by Brooklyn Bedding, but it is high quality. Be forewarned though, if this goes upstairs like ours, have help! It weighs 100 pounds for the Twin XL size! While it is two pieces, they come already bolted together and wired so we just hustled them upstairs as they came. Leave in box, it is very well packed, and push or roll upstairs! Works great!
