I always have a very good experience shopping through Fiddler shop’s website. I am pleased with the Wittner violin tailpiece. It was easy for me to install, and looks very nice on my violin, overall I think it improved the sound of my instrument and much better than the old heavy wooden tailpiece that was on it.

Finally made the switch

I'm an adult amateur and had resisted using 4 fine tuners, because it wasn't the "classical way." I did have mine installed by a luthier, as I didn't know how to position it correctly. (I learned from the luthier that when in the right place, the main string and the short end between the bridge and tailpiece tune to a specific ratio). Anyway, with the fine tuners the frustration of tuning is gone, and I can easily be in tune more precisely. The video on this tailpiece at Fiddlershop was helpful. The only downside is that my magnetic clip to hold the mute won't fit on this tailpiece, but that really isn't a problem.
