Tip Card #32 Hardtack Recipe

A taste of history.

Great recipe card. The recipe works. Makes a hard, thick cracker. Hardtack. With 3 ingredients of flour, water, and salt, I’m sure it tastes the same now as it did hundreds of years ago and was issued as part of sailor / soldier rations. Softens and is chewable after 15 - 20 min of soaking in your favorite tasting soup / broth / bullion. Just add hot water, soak, and enjoy.. An inexpensive survival food with years of shelf life. I’ll be keeping a package of chicken soup and Hardtack in my backpack while hiking, hunting, fishing, or traveling.
