Diminishing quality

I've used TFO rods for many years. 8 own quite a few in many weights. I've always advocated for the strong performance and value. I also have some Orvis, Loomis, and Hardy rods. I've fished my Lefty Kreh TiCr-X 8wt as my favorite rod in the salt. I love it. But when I decided it was time for a new, faster 8 wt to fish alongside my beloved TiCR-X, I naturally looked to TFO. I ordered the Axiom II-X. When it arrived I could not have been more disappointed. The handle was significantly shorter and less robust than my TiCr-X. The action - billed as Extra Fast - was nearly imperceptibly different from my rod. Check this photo out. The new Axiom II-X on the right. This is nothing but bad corporate decision-making to cheapen a product to increase margins. Shame on you TFO. I actually cannot tell if it's the exact same blank or not. I am returning this rod and will probably spend more to get the rod I want. But more importantly, my confidence in and regard for TFO has been lost.
