Lucas 25D Series 4 Cylinder Ignitor® Electronic Ignition Conversion - 12 Volt Negative Ground - PerTronix LU-142A

Two things. It replaced an existing one that fried my ignition wire. After removing the distributor cap I found two things. The black and red wires has split insulation with the red being lower and likely shorted to the treaded stud on the mounting plate. I also found the magnet to be quite warn in an odd way. The new pick-up has the red wire on top. This is better and it makes me wonder if the risk of shorting was the reason for the change. I did not install the original, so the only other thing to offer is that to get the . 03” clearance I did have to file the mounting holes quite a bit to reduce the clearance to spec (started around . 06” gap). This is for a 1963 MGB. Very happy with the final product and the car runs great! (p. s. I’ve fused the replacement ignition lean 😎).
