Great BUT. . .
We couldn’t be happier with the final product And the grands love it. We’ve gotten so many compliments.
But here are some cautions if you’re not experienced in construction. (We flip houses and it was tedious for us)
You need 3 drills. The hardware comes in a jumble. Invest a couple hours in sorting it and label with the letters from the parts list). Also, you’ll want to check your drill bits. It requires 3 different bits and some parts require more than one at a time. If you only have one drill you’ll spend a lot of time changing bits.
Inspect every piece. We had a lot of “forklift “ damaged parts when we opened the packaging. We only counted the pieces at the beginning then had a lot of delays while we repaired damage with wood glue and clamps. As we constructed we had a few boards that were not milled correctly. For example missing the grooves on one side or one end was still rough like the original log. We had to fabricate a replacement. I’m sure they would have replaced these parts but we found it all after we started and didn’t want to stop and wait. If you can’t fabricate, you may want to wait until the replacements are delivered.
Test fit a lot. It’s not clear from the instructions (no words) which edge should go which way—particularly on the walls. We put it together first with minimal screws and didn’t tighten until all the wall pieces were in.
There is no door knob. We ordered a 2 1/2” wooden knob from our favorite furniture restoration supplier. Again, not a problem, just a delay.
All in all, no regrets-just could have been a smoother, faster build.
