Headset V5

I couldn't be happier with my purchase of the PPG Smoke V5 Headset with MMCX (Earbud) option. Shipping was incredibly fast, and everything arrived very well packaged. Opening the box, it was immediately obvious that PPG Smoke takes pride in their products. Everything was neatly organized, securely packed, and presented professionally. The headset itself is extremely comfortable, especially with the included gel ear pads. They create an excellent seal around your ears and provide outstanding noise protection. Even the standard speakers offer great sound quality. I haven't purchased a set of earbuds yet, so I can't comment on using them with the headset just yet (I'll update my review once I do). One concern I had before ordering the MMCX version was that the earbud wires might flop around and become annoying when the earbuds weren't being used. I reached out to PPG Smoke, and Trevor assured me the wires could be tucked away so you wouldn't even notice them. After receiving the headset, I can confidently say he was absolutely right. The wires stay completely out of the way, and you don't even realize they're there. I specifically chose the MMCX version because I wanted the flexibility to add earbuds later and take advantage of the additional hearing protection and noise isolation they provide. Having that option makes this headset even more versatile, and I can't wait to pick out a set of earbuds to pair with it. Pairing the headset with my phone was quick and effortless. The Bluetooth connection was seamless, and the audio quality was crystal clear for both music and phone calls. Everyone I spoke with said my voice came through clearly as well. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend the PPG Smoke V5 Headset to anyone looking for a high-quality paramotor headset. The comfort, hearing protection, sound quality, Bluetooth performance, and overall build quality have all exceeded my expectations. I'll update this review once I've had the opportunity to use a set of MMCX earbuds and after I've put more hours on the headset to comment on its long-term durability. That said, based on my first impressions, I don't anticipate any issues whatsoever. Everything about this headset feels exceptionally well made, and it appears to be a premium-quality product from top to bottom.

Bought a helmet and started with the Peltor X4's which were horrible. Then I upgraded to the X5's with a really cheap Amazon Bluetooth intercom. The speakers were so bad I could not hear them and phone conversations were the same. I also used my Sony active noise cancelling earbuds which worked very well with sound quality and noise reduction but my comms were not compatible so I had no communication while using. I finally pulled the trigger on these as I really wanted something I could communicate while flying with others and listen to quality music. I went with the MMCX's just in case I didn't get the noise reduction I wanted. First flight these things worked very well BUT I was still getting a little more noise than I wanted, however the speakers in these overpowered all the excess noise I was getting with ease and still have some volume to add but not needed. Second flight I opted to add the earbud's for more noise cancellation and I got exactly what I was looking for, quiet in flight with high quality sound! Now one thing I did not try was flying with ear plugs and just the cups to see how that works, I tried that on my old set and I could not hear the speakers but I think I will have a different outcome with these do to how loud the speakers are. Have not tried flying with my Insta 360 yet but looking forward to being able to Vlog during a video with high quality and seamless connectivity that these provide. Very pleased with purchase and would buy again.

Sound is amazing! People talking to me on the phone have no idea I’m flying. Can’t wait to rack up more hours with the new headset.
