Out of the box it was ready to go! With the limit of 2000 gallons before recharging is necessary (based on HARD water conditions). I have used the unit twice for our Salt Water Hot Tubs that requires to be filled with Softened water. The regular process we have used in the past was very slow to fill the Hot Tubs. The Pro+Aqua unit filled the tubs in less than 1 hour which saved nearly 45mins to an hour. I look forward to first recharge which will be much easier to perform over the other brand.
