English Tankard

This is the tea mug of my dreams!

I have been searching for this cup for years! About 22 years ago, in a shop in Font Royal, Virginia, I purchased a mug in this shape. I have adored that mug, and my only regrets have been the slipperiness of the glaze, and the size, which is sometimes too small. This tankard fixes all the things I don’t like about that mug, and has all the things I love about it! The photos do not do justice to the glaze - the salt glaze gives a lovely golden sheen gradient to half of this mug. The stoneware is a good thickness, and the whole item gives a sense of sturdiness. The thickness also provides decent heat retention. I find this shape very comfortable to hold, and the textured zone around the top is wonderfully grippy! I have been drinking Colonial Bohea out of it - a very satisfying experience!
