Clean, Smooth, Floral, and Buttery
Hairy Crab has the well-recognized Oolong taste but its "greenness" gives a deeper and fresher floral aroma than traditionally darker oolongs. I like to pour the tea as well as the brewed leaves in my glass teapot as it makes the tea taste richer with every cup. Definitely a favorite daily drinker.

Not As Good As It’s Name
I had to try this oolong tea because it has such a great name. However I felt it was just okay. There are better oolongs to try.

Green/buttery leaning oolong
Cream oolong/jin xuan ruined my life.
Hairy Crab has some of the buttery flavor that jin xuan has but dialed way back, making it a more balanced tea. The shop description of buttery greens with a touch of floral is spot on. Like many high quality teas, the leaves unfurl prettily in the teapot - I suggest not using a tea ball for teas like this so that the leaves will have room to unfold. The leaves are good for several steeps, as most good oolongs are.
It is slightly astringent.
Is Hairy Crab Oolong good? Absolutely. But jin xuan has ruined my life, as I said at the start of the review, so the shared butter/cream note just makes me think "I could go for some jin xuan." If cream oolong/jin xuan was too creamy/not green enough for you or you wish green teas were a little less green, I suggest giving Hairy Crab a try.
