I REALLY LIKE THIS STEERING ROD!
I got a 2006 Honda Pilot which has a really wide cabin and large, flat dashboard. It seemed perfect until I tried driving it after the RHD pedals were installed. I'm 5'10" and have a decent arm span, but I knew I would throw out my shoulder if I drove it on routes. So I tried this steering stick even after reading all the mixed reviews. It was easy to attach, so I promised to give it a fair try. 1st practice trip... "this isn't that hard. I'll get used to it". 2nd practice trip... "I think I'm going to like this". 3rd practice trip... "I love this!" Personally, I think there are many factors to consider and you'll only know if it works for you and your vehicle if you try it out. For me, this was worth the money to solve my dilemma. I didn't need to have a steering wheel installed or have the RHD pedals removed and car shop, again. The one problem I keep having is the extension rod unscrews mid route, which isn't safe. So I'm applying lock-tight this weekend.

Expensive but worth it
Firstly, USPS should be providing their rural carriers with a solution, but seeing as they don't, I sought out a conversion kit. The one I was buying didn't work in my vehicle, so I bought the pedals elsewhere. I tried to make my own steering stick from a heim joint and allthread rod but it didn't feel safe. I gave in and ordered this. Honestly, it's definitely overpriced, and they're obviously taking advantage on being the only makers of the steering stick. BUT now that I have it, I feel so much safer. It takes some getting used to, definitely start by going slow and use both hands. I have some roads on my route that are 50 mph back roads and people just zoom down them. I just take my time and stay careful. I would much prefer a mounted steering wheel and hope that Safedrive makes one at some point that is separate from the pedals, but for now, this will do. Buying the proper item has made it feel much safer. I got so comfortable with it I could go up to 40 mph without worry. Still, a RHD vehicle is in my future, but this will be a great back up until then and if the vehicle were to break down. I see people saying they had some issues with it. Really just take your time and stay vigilant. I don't even have to get out to uturn anymore, I just whip this stick around. The quick release and the knob are probably my favorite parts of it. It lets me go back to using my car normally really easily and the knob makes it easier to hold. Maybe a grip on the handle would be cool too. Anyway, main verdict: overpriced but worth it if you let yourself get used to it.
