After searching the forums for the best hitch for the MK7.5 R I came to the conclusion that the Stealth Hitch is the best option for my needs. I only use the hitch for carrying out bikes on a 2-bike rack, no towing whatsoever. I wanted to keep the sporty aesthetics of the R but also add some functionality to it, so I really appreciate the fact I can easily remove the receiver from the back of the car and just keep it in my trunk when not in use. The quality is fantastic and feels very sturdy, however my box did come pretty badly damaged when shipped and thankfully I wasn't missing any parts, but I know Stealth Hitch can't control what happens during delivery. I would maybe suggest sturdier packaging or more reinforcement. I can't really speak for the installation process because I got a local VW/Audi shop to install it for me, but per the installer he said it was pretty straight forward and didn't run into any issues. For those of you who are concerned about cutting the rear valence to make space for the hitch, don't be. No one can tell it's cut unless you stick your head underneath, which is pretty hard to do with a car as low as a Golf R. I know it's the most expensive hitch compared to the other two main competitors, but for me it was totally worth it.

GREAT! I love that I cannot see this thing until I need it! The car already sits low in stock form, and I have not lowered it. Had I gone to U-Haul and had one of their hitches installed or a Curt, it would have ruined the way the back of the car looks, not to mention all of the cutting and modification required to get it to fit with the mufflers and fascia back there... This is the best! Stealth Hitch will be the only hitch I install from now on! Colin

Great Product

Its sturdy and well built. The installation process was straight forward as well. It may be a bit intimidating at first, but search online for an install video, which can help a lot. My only gripe is that all of the hardware was missing. The box got really beat up, and the plastic bag that the hardware comes in was shredded. I think the hardware bag could be tape inside the hitch assembly tube and would prevent this from happening. But to the their credit, I had a replacement hardware bag two days after I sent an email. Awfully impressive. If I ever need a another hitch, I wont hesitate to get it from Stealth Hitches. I will also recommend them to my car buddies.
