Dragonfly Waterproof Jacket

Almost Perfect…

I purchased the dragonfly set for a trip to the wrangell st. Elias national park for summer hiking and ice climbing…it was almost perfect…the only negative is that it is not designed to self contain inside the pockets (no double sided zippers). It is still the best option on the market in my opinion…optimal balance of weight versus performance…excellent features for easy adjustments when getting on, tight but comfortable fit to avoid excess material getting in the way while sea kayaking, ice climbing and rappelling. I hope that future updates include a double sided zipper to store inside the pockets. The zippered legs are excellent, of course it’s added weight for an ultralight rain pant…(for comparison I also rely on the z pack UL rain pants) the zipper feature on the dragon fly allows me to get them on without removing my shoes…worth the added weight for sure! I used the rain layer on every hike on my trip, even in dry conditions summer alpine hikes in Alaska start out warm and get significantly colder on glaciers and summits, even without rain this layer helped retain warmth and block wind and was my go to layer once I got above 4k ft elevation on any hike.

The Perfect Rain Shell

Exactly what I want out of a rain shell - true waterproof material and light weight! It's a mystery how the micro-thin material fights off water of all degree but after camping, biking, hiking, and strolling to work in the pouring rain, I have stayed bone dry without fail. Love being able to add layers or stay cool under the light, packable layer that follows me wherever I go.
