Rope is quite stiff

I've been using this 6mm Jute rope for a few weeks, and I have to admit that it's not my favorite. It's very stiff and scratchy, even after I broke, singed, and conditioned it twice, a couple of weeks apart. One person I used it with jokingly asked me if it was coconut rope. I am considering treating it a third time, which I've never had to do for any other rope I've ever used. I've also noticed that there are signs of breakage around the bite, even though I've only used the rope twenty or so times. I have had eight or ten rope kits over the years, and I've never had one be this difficult to condition, or show wear this quickly, other than very very inexpensive rope from the hardware store. I don't recommend.
