Finding the Right Notes
Love it, so far! Great to hear Mr. Ron Carter’s empathic voice - especcially if you had the popportunitiy to talk to him personally. The musical Story is - even if already known - always worth to listen again…. new details occur. What I loved most is the fact that Mr. Carter points out his personal and human values such as sincerity, anti-racism and professionalism.

A Biography of Jazz Bass
Mr. Ron Carter reads his biography and his voice is magic. He describes his early love for the cello and how he had two give it up because no orchestra would hire a black cello player when he was a young man. He switched to bass and the world of jazz is all the better for it. We meet almost all of the great jazz musicians of the 20th and 21st century. Mr Carter's massive discography is astounding - he teaches, he plays, he tours - how does he do it all? Discipline. His advice to bass players is advice that will make any person a better human being. I recommend this audio recording if you want to hear his voice. If you prefer to read the biography, do that instead. But don't miss this if you love jazz or a life of purpose.
