The Art of Ron Carter 1963-1967
This is an excellent book a must for all. Double Bassists with QR codes that are amazing to rehearse with. Another book from Sir Ron's library to my library. Many thanks Mr.Carter!?

"The Art of Ron Carter 1963-1967" by Mikko Nurmi
This book by Mikko Nurmi starts with great insight on the Maestro's life and bass playing philosophy. It contains advice that, in my opinion, every bass player (upright or electric) should be aware of. This first part is followed by the book's main section: full-lenght analyzed transcriptions of Ron Carter's bass lines in the period of 1963-1967. The reason I bought the book was because I've transcribed the bass line on "E.S.P", and was looking for other transcription to compare with mine. The only place I've found it was on this book, and it was worth it! It showed me several insights on such bass line that I hadn't figure out by myself, as well as some notes I hadn't heard correctly. I recommend the purchase for anyone seriously interested in studying jazz bass lines.
