SEGA Game Gear Capacitor Kit - VA1 VA0 Models - Console 5

Restored my non-working VA1 Game Gear!!

I had purchased a VA1 Sega Game Gear that didn't power on or anything. Figured I'd attempt a recap first and go from there. Purchased this kit and recapped the sound board, power board, and motherboard and it works perfect (minus a few dead pixels in the screen). My only complaint is the little square capacitors used for the sound board. I don't have a ton of soldering experience so those were a little difficult for me. But if you remove all the old ones first and then install the new ones you have more room to work and it makes it a little easier. I was doing them 1 by 1 on the power board and motherboard. This job definitely requires a steady hand and some patience! Overall great kit though, it included everything I needed and the Game Gear works again! Highly recommend.

Product did exactly what I had hoped. Can now play.

Had power and sound but no picture. Replaced caps and now it works. Will probably upgrade screen as it is still washed out. It did take a couple more days to receive my shipment than I’d hoped but that’s just me being eager to tinker.
