SILCA Secret Chain Blend - Hot Melt Wax

Recently purchased the Silca hot wax system including the chain cleaner, the wax melting device, and the wax. Used on three bikes so far and works as advertised. Chains are quiet and smooth and nog attracting dirt/grime.

I’ve been using the Silca chain waxing system for a couple of years now. I find it incredibly easy to use and the improvement over oiling the chain is significant (and much less messy. Knowing that the chain will be perfectly waxed using this wax and following the instructions properly as to temperature and duration is a big comfort. The results are evident when on the bike.

First time waxing and I have to say the experience has been great so far. I found the initial process relatively straight forward and once the chain is broken in after the waxing, the drivetrain is smooth, quiet and efficient. It could be a placebo effect but it felt more efficient than my drive train had running synergetic for sure. Only thing I would say “needs improvement” is that I didn’t know what to expect on the first 15km or so with the newly waxed chain and it certainly wasn’t quiet at that point and had me concerned I’d done something wrong or that I’d knocked my derailleur out of line or something. Luckily it disappeared but by not until almost like magic I had a perfectly silent drivetrain. I know the break in can’t be changed but I think maybe silca could do a better job at really explaining what to expect there. But maybe that’s just a newby waxed thing. Otherwise I just wish it wasn’t black but I understand that’s caused by the contents that make it work so well
