I cannot rate this product until I actually use it. I had one of my bike’s chain hot waxed at a local bike shop. I liked the result so much that I had a second bike’s chain done. I purchased items from Silca to do it myself WHEN either chains need to be relaxed so that I could do it myself. Silca needs to realize that the products they sell may not be in use the day or the day after a customer receives them.

I'll Never Go Back to Oil-Based Lubes Again

I initially tried waxing chains 25+ years ago with small tins of parafin waxes heated on hot plates. The waxes weren't very well developed and the process was cumbersome, at best. Fast forward a few decades and waxing is back, except this time it's here to stay. Huge improvements in the waxes and the application process have made it viable for anyone with any basic bike maintenance proficiency. The biggest benefit for me is the resistance to picking up dirt and debris from gravel and mtb riding. I can get 2 or 3 times as many miles out of waxed chain between cleanings, extend the life of my chain and stay at peak efficiency the whole time.

This stuff is amazing. I now have 3500 miles on my gravel bike chain with no sign of wear after 2 years! I've heard all the complaints of how much effort it is to wax, but it's really not. I pull the chain for a full wax every 400-500 miles, and top off with Super Secret drip wax every ride or two. Considering the cost of drive train components these days, it's worth the effort.
