Love this altar. I took to my local furniture refinisher/repari shop to have it refinished, to protect it from warping or drying out. He remarked about how well it was constructed. Also, he identified the wood as reclaimed chestnut, which looks a lot like oak but is not as hard. He put a piece of oak next to it to show the subtle differences in the grain patterns of oak and chestnut. He told me it was a steal for what I paid for it. So happy with this purchase!
