Spectre Jacket

Excellent all-round bush jacket

I own two Spectre Jackets, one in Desolve Black and the other in Desolve and they have become some of my favourite jackets for bushwalking and spending time outdoors. The Spectre strikes an excellent balance between warmth, weather resistance and breathability. I particularly like that it provides good protection from cold winds and light rain without feeling excessively heavy or cumbersome when walking. The two-way stretch also gives you plenty of freedom of movement when negotiating uneven terrain, climbing over obstacles or moving through the bush. The longer bush-coat style is another feature I really appreciate, providing additional coverage while still being comfortable to walk in. The adjustable hood, cuffs and waist allow you to fine-tune the fit depending on the weather, while the chest and hand-warmer pockets are practical and well positioned. I also really like both camouflage patterns. Desolve is excellent for blending into the Australian bush, while Desolve Black has a distinctive darker appearance that works equally well in the bush or as casual outdoor wear. Having worn the Spectre on numerous bushwalks in cool, damp and windy conditions, I’ve found it to be comfortable, practical and very well made. It’s particularly well suited to the changeable conditions we experience in the Victorian bush, where a cold morning or evening can quickly turn into a much warmer walk once you get moving. Owning two of them probably says more than anything else I could put in a review. The Spectre is a versatile, durable and extremely comfortable jacket that has earned a regular place in my outdoor gear.
