Trust the Process
Overall, using Hyperdip was a straightforward, enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this product. I was initially concerned about getting acceptable results. From my first-timer experience, here are a few tips: 1. Trust the process. Spray heavier wet coats than what you may think is "okay." As the instructions say, and pretty much every video, thicker layers allow excess to be peeled away easier. And, a good peel is a rather enjoyable experience. 2. Take time to mask your vehicle but don't obsess over it. I spent a lot of time masking, and missed spots I didn't realize. Luckily, the overspray wipes away easily. 3. Get the pistol grip sprayer. I didn't realize how much I used my "trigger finger" until the last 2-3 coats when my finger and forearms were toast. I was dipping an Audi Q7 grill, and it has a 3x1.5 foot (ish) plate holder that required a lot of spraying. During wet coats, the multiple presses made laying down a smooth layer difficult. Also, when my finger placement wasn't perfectly placed on the tip, I had Hyperdip hitting the end of my finger and it caused blobbing. 4. Practice on a scrap piece if you can. This was my first time using Hyperdip, or any spray can for that matter. It takes some skill to properly cover large, flat areas as they are not as forgiving as small emblems and lettering. The outcome, even with some unevenness on the flat areas, looks awesome. From 3 feet away, it looks like OEM.
