Happy so far, haven’t brewed yet.

Unboxing was good. Nicely packaged and with a huge, heavy glass lid. As advertised, it needed the continental plug cutting off and a 13A one wiring. I’m confident with this sort of thing, which was handy because the flex is very thick and care was needed to ensure the wires fitted in the recess in the plug. If you are buying one, get the best you can find. The tap needs fitting too but that was easy and leak free. From reviews and the specifications it wasn’t clear to me whether the digital display showed the set temperature or the actual and the answer is that it quite cleverly does both. When you switch on, it displays the actual temperature. Then when you turn the knob it displays your desired temperature. Once you stop turning the knob the set temperature flashes for a few seconds then the display reverts back to actual temperature. All very intuitive and everything I could have wished for. With water in, the thermostat held within +/-1degree C. Checking with a hand held thermometer, this was spot on in the area at the bottom of the boiler near where the thermostat is but inevitably hotter towards the top. That’s just the laws of physics of course. I want to use mine for mashing and have bought a pump to recirculate from the tap back to the top of the vessel. Once this was running the temperature was constant and consistent throughout, so this bodes for mashing. So a great start and I can’t wait to get brewing.
