Prints like PLA, behaves like metal! Experience our most "attractive" material yet!!!
Protopasta Rustable Magnetic Iron Metal PLA Composite is actually ferromagnetic. It responds to magnets and behaves similarly to pure iron! Encapsulated in plastic, the iron maintains a stable matte, cast-metal finish as print

Printing with this filament was easier than expected! It prints somewhat like regular PLA but a bit more brittle. I used the same settings listed on the data sheet with no problems. For context, I have a Prusa i3 MK3S+ with a 0.4 hardened steel nozzle.
Getting the rusting effect I wanted took some experimenting....I was going for a splotchy/layered rust that had different tones of orange.....similar to corten steel. What I found worked best was to place multiple size/shape droplets of rusting solution on the print and let it sit for a while. I used a heat gun to "bake" in that layer of rust....then repeat the process. Misting the print with a thin layer of liquid resulted in a dull brown rust that was kind of boring. The rust will rub off if you do not spray with some kind of fixative. I used Matte Finish from Krylon.
