Back story… “Charlie” This sportster “Charlie” has been in the family for 42 years. My mother bought it for my Dad in 1982 and surprised him for his birthday. It has undergone 3 complete frame off restorations in that time the first of which I helped with at 12 years old and went on to learn to ride a bike on it at 15 years old. The last build was a complete motor overhaul by Truitt & Osborn in KS who bored it out as far as it could go, We have had many other bikes in the family but Charlie holds a place near and dear to my heart. I am now 51 years old and Charlie has been passed down to me finally. I remember struggling to get it started over those 42 years every time I wanted to take a ride, even more so after the motor work. More compression, bigger bore meant more temperamental. I decided to throw this S&S super E on here and I’ll tell you I have never started this bike so easily. Pull the throttle once and hit the button and he roars to life. Thanks Lowbrow, hope you get a kick out of Charlie’s history and know his future will be another 40+ years as my son currently rides and has his own bikes but has already laid claim to Charlie when I decide to pass him on.
