I enjoy using and displaying anything vintage. I was ecstatic when I found and bought a set of Pyrex percolators and tea infuser online. I spent hours cleaning and preparing them for use with my 1894 Enterprise hand-cranked coffee mill. I invited some friends over to try my percolated coffee, and one quipped that what he saw at the bottom of his cup "was grounds for divorce." Anyway, that remark caused me to remember another old fashion coffee maker called "Proctor Sylex" syphon, and I began to search for one of those. That's when I discovered YAMA glass 8 cup siphon, a modern equivalent. After comparing I must admit that the YAMA siphon makes the smoothest and cleanest cup of coffee I've ever brewed. As much as I like my original Pyrex glassware, the siphon makes a more refined cup of coffee. I've ordered a second one because the cup markings are for tiny cups... not for today's standard cup. So, now I make two pots for company... and no more "grounds for divorce." Tip: I've found that stirring the coffee for 3 or 4 minutes while the siphon tube continues to transfer heat and keep the coffee in the upper chamber will extract more flavor and body. Then turn off the heat.

I love the quality of the glass and the efficiency of the design. The stopper always seals completely and the filter keeps a clean brew.

We love our siphon. Mornings are magical with siphon coffee. We’ll never make it any other way.
