The OEM skid plate is fine for woods riding but, when your terrain is lots of rocks, you really need protection. I heard so many stones hit the Ricochet after they got thrown up by the front tire and/or other rider's bikes, all I could think of was the potential damages I was averting by installing the Ricochet Skid Plate on my near zero hours 2024 KLX300R. Chugging through bigger rock sections with the occasional seriously LOUD heavy clank as I would bottom or case the RIcochet on something that was just par for the course, I was kind of concerned. After the day's ride, I found two knuckle-sized dents less than an 1/8" deep on either side of center. If it weren't for its brute strength, there's no way I could look forward to riding my local park (AOAA) with the enthusiasm that makes riding so enjoyable. This thing is a tank. The instructions, I think, really are meant as a joke, aren't they? I mean, I tried their way, I tried reversing their order of attachment, I tried my own method after "no joy" trying the written instructions. The clamps were very, uh, fun. Be patient, you'll figure it out. If you've ever spent time with your fingers fumbling with that bolt that you need to start threading into something while orienting it in a specific position but you can barely reach it with your fingers and no tool is of any help, well, that's putting the clamps in. Look at it as a challenging puzzle and enjoy the process. :D :D :D It's doable. I honestly think they're just messing with us with those instructions cuz they know this skid plate is absolutely worth it even if there seems to be no short way of explaining how to easily install it. It's not hard, you just gotta think. Can't wait to hear this product banging out evidence of all the wear-n-tear it's gonna suffer at my hands while keeping me totally calm about the carnage that it's deflecting. The first big hit is a little unnerving due to the loud clanging but now that I've heard it and witnessed little to no damage being inflicted, I ain't scared. ;)

Got this for my 24 klx300 as a new rider this thing has taken some good hits into boulders. Oil changes are still easy no need to remove. 10/10 easy install, beefy product!
