A Cutter, Not A Stabber
I have a similar Ahti knife with a shorter blade. I use it every day for opening envelopes and packages, cutting strapping tape, and similar. The shorter blade is ideal for precision work. What makes this and the Leuku 145 different from most other Finnish puukko and leuku knives is the handle with the palm swell. This makes the knife safe to hold and reduces the risk of the hand slipping forward onto the blade. Finnish knives typically lack a hand guard, so stabbing is not advised. The Ahti's grip is contoured to allow a secure hold that compensates in some measure for the lack of a guard, so pushing the tip carefully forward is safe.
