Bernstein, Appalacian Spring
This was always an important performance (though the Copland conducting the BSO recording different but great) complement to the Bernstein). The original Columbia vinyl was poor quality, with the CD SMK 63082 much improved. In this case, the HDTT is most satisfactory, not a revelation from the Sony CD, but as in all the HDTT recordings I have acquired, clean and mostly sense of space that is quite remarkable and satisfying. (Especially in the Munch Ravel "Daphnis et Chloe," the Chausson Symphony, and the Frank Symphony in D, as well as the Paul Paray of the same symphony, and the amazing Verdi Otello with Monaco! The difference for the Copland s less than for these others, but still worthwhile. I think the original Columbia engineering was a bit cavernous, and the HDTT can't correct that sound. But I am enjoying this HDTT quite a bit, along with the others that I can fully recommend.

Bernstein does Copland
This was one of Bernstein’s finest records. The sound is so much more vivid and clean sounding in these 24/192 PCM recordings than the MP3 recording I had previously.
