I owned the Airtec intercooler and the installation wasn’t the easiest nor smoothest. Airtec intercooler is also painted black, poor for heat reflection. With this I got mine in satin silver (better for heat reflection) the install was smoother and maybe a little easier. You can feel the difference in temperature at either end of the intercooler and its cool enough to rest your hand on top, that should be reassurance to know you’re getting a top-notch intercooler. Finishes engine bay really well, looks fantastic and build quality is tip-top.

Best intercooler for the Mini

I was recommended this product after attending a track day, and was proven it is by far the most effective. I previously owned the Airtec intercooler for the Cooper S which i think was flawed being painted black (not ideal for intercoolers) and to get installed is time consuming. I got this intercooler in Satin Silver (better for heat reflection) and you can literally feel the difference between each end of the intercooler and with better intergration into the intake manifold is clever and effective. This is worth the cost compared to the airtec intercooler. You won’t regret getting this intercooler

Mini R53 top mount intercooler

Really impressive build quality, the fit is equally snug and the installation went smoothly. Of greater importance is the performance improvement which can be felt from the seat of your pants… which means it provides circa 10-15% torque and bhp gain over standard JCW item.
