Steeda Focus ST Cold Air Inlet Tube Upgrade

The one I received di dnot fit my car

The Steeda cold air intake I received for my 2018 mk3 facelift ST did not fit. on initial contact with Steeda it was suggested that their records showed I had not purchased the Steeda airbox and it was not guaranteed to work with other air boxes. I pointed out that I had removed the airbox when trying to fit and so as not trying to connect it to any airbox that was not the issue. In fact the support bracket has the point pushing in to the engine head and a plastic electronics connector, so with any engine movement it is likely to cause damage to the head and definitely the connector. Also to get the reducer sleeve to fit/sit squarely on to the metal shaft that leads in to the engine/turbo (as per their online fitting instruction sheet) the opposite side the support bracket are some hydraulic type coupling and the intake pipe pushes against these. I put a small straight hose on to the air box end to temporarily connect a foam filter and with the engine running the pipe rattles against the hydraulic style couplings. So one of or the other will wear and or again with any movement likely cause damage. A longer silicone reducer may resolve the issue but then when the securing mount bracket is fastened it will pull the pipe back against the hydraulics. Basically it is why the OME intake has the sculpted indent on the bottom backside, so it is not in contact with these hydraulic couplings. Any engineer worth their salt would surely realise to fit a totally round pipe it would need to be raised to sit higher to clear the couplings. There is room under the bonnet/hood, not much but enough. I was advised that the Steeda techs will be in contact to try and resolve the issue. I am still waiting for that, in the mean time I have a £170 useless piece of poorly designed pipe. I wish I had gone with the Cobb pipe.

Very easy to use site. Price well you pay for quality. Postage was very fast. Was a bit tricky to fit but wasn't to difficult to do. Instructions easy to follow. Car is picking up a lot quicker and running better. Very happy with Steeda products I've had so far.
