I like the crunch

My first encounter with a buckwheat pillow came at a hotel in Tokyo this past summer. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it, given its heft, its sound, its character. Needless to say, any reservations I had were quickly dispelled. The sound of the moving husks -- or whatever they are -- I found to be soothing, and the pillow itself to be incredibly comfortable. As such, when I returned to Beijing back in September, when I saw buckwheat pillow on the hotel's pillow "menu," I let my request be known. The one noticeable difference between the pillows I slept on in Tokyo and Beijing and the one I received from Turmery is the firmness. Perhaps the Asian varieties are packed much tighter, making the pillows there not hard, but definitely firm. The Turmery pillow is, for lack of a better term, floppy. It is still wonderfully comfortable, but getting the pillow into a pillow case requires some wrestling as it shifts about here and there, resisting being enveloped at every turn. Still, I am definitely pleased, very pleased, with this purchase.

I really like this pillow!! it definitely sounds a little weird to have a buckwheat pillow but omg!! I got the lumbar pillow and I am thinking in getting a regular buckwheat pillow as well.
