Great ocarina, but glaze chips off

I purchased this ocarina over a year ago and it looks and sounds great. I pick up to play every few weeks. The rest of the time it lives on a stand, on a shelf away from any windows or direct sunlight. Maybe a month or so after purchasing, I noticed a small chip in the crackle design and thought nothing of it. Over the next few months, more and more chunks of the glaze started falling off. Now I'm scared to touch it because I don't want it to keep happening
