Chestnut Rose

I planted my Chestnut rose on Christmas Day , 2024. … followed ARE care instructions for overwintering . She emerged from dormancy and immediately put on a first flush of blossoms . I’m In Zone 6 cold hardiness, Zone 10 heat . She performed well over the hot n very dry summer by putting on much cane n leaf growth . I’m exoecting a 2 nd flush of blossoms now that rains have started n temps are falling below triple digits. Grasshoppers which love rose foliage here didn’t bother her that much. Overall , I think chestnut rose was a good choice and ARE delivered a plant that is thriving in my harsh summer climate. I’m looking forward to many years more of growth n unusual blooms! She hasn’t produced hips yet, but I’m sure given another year or two she will .
