My dermatologist that specialized in radiation for my skin cancer suggested I take this nicotinamide daily to reduce the chances of recurring skin cancer. Honestly, I presume these work I like taking 1000 at one instead of the 500 mg twice a day. Have found no bad side effects so I continue on with Biophix
