Great, but take some practice.

Flameless ratio heaters can take a few uses before you get the hang of them. At first you can be waiting around for ages before anything seems to happen. But I seem to have got the hang of it. Add the correct amount of water and knead it into the "tea bag" until the reaction kicks off. Then wow! Very hot very quickly and steam !! Too hot to hold. Hot enough to soften the plastic packet and melt the writing!! Be quick and get the food pouch into the heater bag before you scald yourself. Then 10 or 12 minutes later with a bit of moving around so the heater is on both sides of the food pouch, and you have hot food. Not quite as hot or fast as boiling water on a dehydrated food packet, but not far behind. I've now also added a bubble wrap envelope to my kit for putting the whole lot into while it heats.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from these but travelling on a motorbike with limited space I didn't want to be carrying cooking gear and gas. This really was an impulse purchase and one I have not regretted. Despite the complaints that 12 minutes is a long time to wait it would be just as long to set up cooking gear and then actually cook so for 1 person this is ideal. Only one comment... there was something about a cardboard pouch on the instructions. I didn't get any but then it didn't seem necessary and I just left it out in the open!
