Mud issues solved!
After 9 years of battling spring mud, winter ice, and struggling to keep good footing, we purchased the Lighthoof mats and had them installed. Problems solved!!

Lighthoof rocks
We installed Lighthoof for a mare who has PPID and needs to spend time off the grass. At our last farm we had a dry lot for her but it was often a mucky muddy mess! When we bought a small property and turned it into a horse farmette we were determined to eliminate the mud. The area by the barn where the dry lot needed to go was a soupy clay spot that needed something special to keep it habitable for HRH! We laid out all the grids ourselves and being “older” and never having done it before, we think it turned out great. It looks good and works well and our mare stays clean and dry. Wish we had done it at the last farm instead of suffering with boot sucking mud!

Installation of Lighthoof panels
We just installed 7 panels. It isn't mud season yet so can't comment on that yet. We did 4 panels in our lower barn and 3 in the upper. Watched the videos and went to work. First group took us a little over a day. Second went quicker and was easier as we had a good idea of the process. The compactor we rented for the first set didn't work, so we rented another lighter weight model. I would suggest using the heavier one to compact the gravel. The guidelines for how much gravel to use were accurate. We are very pleased with the ease of installation and the instructions. A few horse friends have already come by to look at it. We took photos as we went so they could see the process. Looking forward to having drier paddocks this winter.
