The best coconut carbon I’ve ever used

I have tried many different coconut carbons on the market, and this one is by far the best. Not only are the rainbow colours fun, but also you don’t have the grey/black kiln patina that other coconut carbons create on the pieces. It fires with minimal ash, and the carbon also does not get stuck in the design of the pieces as much as other carbons. With other carbons, I am often spending an hour picking carbon out of cracks, this one comes out almost entirely clean, with minimal clean up. One thing I want to mention is that my kiln is outdoors in the shed in Canada, and I did notice that the rainbow colours are more vibrant in the summer, and in the winter when the kiln would cool off to below 0 at night, there’d be no colours at all. So if you want more vibrant rainbow colours, have your kiln in a very warm environment, so that the pieces never get too cold.

Fresh charcoal saved the day

I was trying to make some copper leaf pendants for an event and nothing was firing correctly. I ordered new charcoal which came very quickly and my problem was solved! A good sinter and a lovely color.
