Excellent gift for starting conversations
Dave McD's writing has a gentle, yet purposeful quality to it. His personal story, as the catalyst for the book, is presented without over-writing, pretentiousness, sentimentality or confected stoicism, but instead is honest in what is difficult and tragic. Dave's way of teasing out what it is to have 'hope beyond a cure', the implications of living with the terminal, is positive and uplifting, but also directly addresses fallacies that beguile one into a life that forgets about mortality.
I highly recommend this book, for any Christian to be reminded of what we hope for, but also for anyone else; regardless of whether they or someone close to them is terminally ill, as a great way start significant conversations with people
