I was on the hunt for a more affordable take on the original M7 (2002 flat bottle). I’ve got both the vintage and the current YSL version, so I’m pretty familiar with the scent. H7 kicks off a bit more resinous, but the drydown gets surprisingly close to M7. Sadly, on my skin, it only lasts about a third to half as long as the originals - which is a bit of a letdown. Price-wise, not quite worth it for me personally. Two 30ml bottles plus shipping to Austria came to around €100. For around €110 I can get the current 80ml YSL M7 locally, with better performance too. That said it’s a well-made fragrance, presentation is good, delivery was quick, and Dave was brilliant to deal with. Also, the free samples included were a lovely touch some real potential there for future orders. All in all: Not the right fit for me, but if you’re in the UK (lower shipping) or just fancy an M7-inspired scent with a twist, it’s definitely worth a go.
