Designjet 500 / 800 Trailing Cable Stiffener

Stiffener saves the day

I have a DesignJet 500 42 inch plotter. I bought it second hand and changed the belt as well as the trailing cable. After a few months, the cable started moving in directions it should not. As predicted, the cable broke. I installed my spare, but this time I bought a trailing cable stiffener. It made a huge difference. The cable lies flat and stays where it should be. I ordered the stiffener from LPS, the DesignJet store. It was delivered in a very short period of time. I also appreciate the videos LPS put out, showing how to take apart the plotter, change the part and put everything back together. Their prices are very competitive. The other quote I had was $80 more expensive. LPS is my store of choice. Thank you
