When stick welding stainless steel handrails using 316L 3/32 rods it's all in the finish. Goes without saying, your welding skills must perform as promised. When using a blending disc, a variable speed grinder on low speed performs best. Also only lightly drag. Do not push the grinder, this will dig into the stock. Give it a try and the results will please the eye. Don"t forget to label your stainless steel consumables. Carbon steel grinding wheels will transfer steel on to the stainless and rust stains will ruin your work.
